About Ghana Formerly known as the "Gold Coast" due to it's richness in gold, is located on the Greenwich Meridian and the Equator, which is in her territorial waters. Ghana is thus strategically located in the center of the World, in the West Coast of Africa and it is a Tropical Country. On March 6, 1957, it became the first Black African Colony to attain Independence from the Great Britain, after the European power struggles between the 15th and 19th centuries. It's first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, convinced of the need of the emancipation of the entire Continent from foreign rule, was a known leader in liberating the continent and this gave Ghana a prominent place in the struggle for the emancipation of the Continent. Though a young republic, which has also suffered some setbacks, it is a stable African nation which practices Multi Party Democracy, with a vibrant economy which is still expanding. Some of it's main commodities are Gold, Precious Minerals, Cocoa, Timber, and Tourism. It's modern medical facilities are quickly turning it into the West Africa Medical Center. It can also boast of very highly skilled manpower on the Continent. Ghana has attractive Investment incentives for both the local and foreign investors. To enhance it's attractiveness for investment, it's modern telecommunication facilities, first class Seaports, Airports, etc are being further developed. The people of Ghana are probably the friendliest on earth and are rich in both cultural and natural heritage. This people place a high emphasis on politeness and courtesy.
