Ghana has been blessed by and abounds in "Nature Exiting" attractions. This range from landscape, mountains, valleys, forest, water falls, caves, flora and fauna etc. most of this are packaged to suit your "taste and pocket". The following are highlights of some of these attractions/destinations.
Wli Water Falls- This is the highest waterfall within the region, about 80ft high and located in the Wli Nature Reserve. After crossing 8 meandering streams at different points to the Waterfall, it is indeed a place for relaxation. It is also a bird watchers paradise and a home for bats. The beauty of the rainbow over the fall is another wonder of nature. The sound of the fall, birds chirping, and the trees singing are worth experiencing.
Ankasa Conservation Park- This is one of the Spots in Ghana, capable of producing botanical surprises. Spend sometime here and visit the bamboo cathedral by the stream, smell the evergreen vegetation, the flavor of this virgin forest, listen to nature whilst it rises and goes to bed. Experience Physical, Mental or even Emotional Regeneration in this Virgin forest. A place you surely have to be. This park has rapids, elephant comb etc. it was named after an ornamental plant to which it is a home. This park supports more than 80 species of mammals including the forest elephant, bongo, giant forest hog, Red River hog, duiker, palm civet, black white colobus, bats, chimpanzee, the endangered Diana Roloway etc. It was established in 1931 and covers an area of about 509km2, regarded as the country's most diverse park.
Nzulezu "Village On Stilts - A village located to the west coast of Ghana, (About 90km from Takoradi) where the people have refused to bow to the forces of Nature, thus, built their village on stilts, in water, and where they carry out almost all their daily life activities in the center of lake Tadene. Thursdays are their sacred days on which excursions may not be allowed. The last part of a trip to this destination is made in a dugout canoe. What an exiting Real-life experience this can be.
Tafi Monkey Sanctuary - A reserve which is mainly inhabited by the Mona Monkey. The sanctuary is deemed sacred because the monkeys are seen as sacred animals "gods". Here a visitor can go hiking with a guide and may be able to see the monkeys coming out to the village near-by to display and be applauded or rewarded. Various birds, butterflies and reptiles have also made this sanctuary their Natural habitat.
Kakum National Park - This is the place to experience the excitement of walking from one point of the virgin forest to another on a suspended canopy-walkway, which also grants a good view of the "canopy trees", rare butterflies, birds etc. the 357km2 park located in the Central Region is also a place for research due to the wide range of medicinal plants that can be found there.
